The first meeting of Mesa County Democratic Socialists of America (MC-DSA) occurred Sunday September 8th, in Grand Junction; while attendance was a bit low, moods were high and business was handled quickly and effectively.

The steering committee did some excellent legwork getting the proper documents and speeches prepared and ran the meeting quickly and efficiently and all motions brought to the floor were passed unanimously.

After introductions and a brief crash course in “Robert Rules” the floor was open for business.

The two vacant steering committee positions were filled (those being: Secretary General, and Membership Coordinator). After these quick elections the steering committee gave a short report on what they’ve been up to these last few months getting Mesa County DSA up and running.

The Code of Conduct and Points of unity were adopted without any strong disagreement and bylaws were adopted quickly afterwards.

Three committees were also formed: The Mutual Aid Committee, The Security Committee, and the Agitation & Propaganda Committee.
