Call to Action…

"I walk up and down the steps of Houston Hall, reading CMU’s messages preaching love, dignity, and courage— most strikingly, ‘use power for good.’ This is the same university that grants white supremacists' platforms to spew their hatred. A university is an institution of learning. CMU claims that it wants to model ‘the world we want to create.’ Is this truly the world we want to create? To plaster these words on its walls while allowing white supremacy within them is not just hypocrisy, it is something far worse.”

A Spontaneous Trip to the “Fight the Oligarchy” Tour

Then Bernie took the stage. Visibly shaken and in awe, he opens by explaining that this was by far the biggest turn out he has ever had. Previous rallies he held in Denver while running for president averaged about 10,000 people. His team had counted at least 35,000 people who Entered into the Civic Center. However, there were easily another 20,000+ people outside surrounding the center for several blocks, listening in on loudspeakers. Bernie made it clear that, "The world is watching to see if Americans resist Trumpism."

How to Save the World or at Least Yourself

I certainly have more questions than answers. I try to live in that question. I try to keep asking, and imagining, and creating, and dreaming, and loving, and growing, and reaching. I try to fuse ideas inside me that reverberate out. Every day, I wake up and I invite the possibility of a different story. Something ripe with potential, and promise, and the expression of the best parts of us instead of the worst. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I invite you. I invite you to join me all the same. I invite you to be a part of creating a constellation of bright shiny stars beaming light into the blackness that surrounds us. I invite you to fuse whatever of these ideas appeal to you, and grow, and shine, and expand.

Montrose Methodist Take Stand for the Unhoused

Montrose has long struggled with how to address the issues raised by an increasing population of unhoused people. However, in November of 2024, the city passed a camping ban, which made it a crime to camp without permission within the city limits. The local Methodist church opened its vacant area to the affected population to camp. Not long after, the City began issuing tickets to the pastor, Kevin Young. To date he has received more than 20 tickets for being in violation of the city statute prohibiting camping. The pastor argues that it is his Christian duty to house the houseless, and to offer them succor. This position invokes recent cases by the U.S. Supreme Court addressing the conflict between local law and religious belief in action (often called preferences to sanitize the language).

Theater Troupe To Tell ‘Herstory’: Q & A

You will see pieces that tell stories from all different perspectives, and we curated our list of works carefully to ensure that we could tell as many stories as possible while still remaining authentic! As I said before, we are still growing and attracting new performers, so we made sure to keep our set list appropriate for the performers we have. (We will not have a white actor tell the story of a BIPOC individual. We respect our differences and our right to share our experiences).

Christian Nationalism’s Conjectured Beliefs

There are too many end times conspiracy theories to count, but they mostly have one thing in common: God’s going to save Christians, take them to somewhere else, and everyone else will burn for all eternity. I feel like that’s a little harsh, but the god of the Bible is pretty brutal. Regardless, the point is that…well, what’s the point if we’re going somewhere else and this world can just burn?
