GJ: Freedom City USA? No!

A cabal of tech-bro oligarchs have their greedy eyes on almost 200 square miles of public land near Grand Junction and Montrose, as potential sites for their dystopian deregulated company towns, that they are unironically calling Freedom Cities.

Haitz’ Hate: On CHSSA, Curriculum, and Local Control

Haitz says she stands for local control, while taking marching orders from a shadowy cabal of far-right front-range education activists led by Brad Miller, and pushing D51 to adhere to federal edicts, the very opposite of local control. She is mirroring Trump’s playbook of destroying the Department of Education under the guise of returning education to the states while at the same time trying to dictate how schools should operate and what they should and should not teach. Haitz and the cabal of the far-right school board members Colorado are a threat to education and marginalized students across the state. They will continue to use their position and networks to undermine Colorado’s laws and protections for students while eroding our educational standards.

Radical History of May Day

In the end, they succeeded, and now instead of International Workers Day, or May Day, Americans celebrate Labor Day. Instead of parades with banners and red flags, we have cookouts and barbecues. The rich and powerful killed five of the Haymarket Eight, and then for good measure they buried their memory. It’s up to us to rediscover the radicals of the past who gave up their lives to try and create a better world. It’s up to us to carry the torch of Liberty, Equality and Solidarity forward into a brighter and better future.

The Isolation of Suburbia and Car Dependency

Both the physical geography and transportation of the suburbs literally separates us from our neighbors. The large houses and fences create boundaries between family units, and cars insulate us from anyone outside the moment we leave. This recreates a very individualistic culture. More public forms of travel like transit, biking, or even walking are often not even considered options, so drivers are often flagrantly unconcerned with their surroundings. This disregard for safety leads to dangerous driving and speeding. More broadly, these divisions normalize a neglect for your fellow humans and the environment.

Resist Fascism, Fight for Socialism

"The United States is in turmoil. With the election of Donald Trump, the forces of fascism and tyranny are rearing their ugly heads. Trump and his goons are set on dismantling the few genuinely democratic institutions that we still have in this country. At such critical turning points in history, we have only two options; fight back or be crushed. "
