by Shayla Trowbridge On Friday, September 12th, CMU President John Marshall sent a campus-wide email regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah just two days prior. In that email, he stated that he does not “often weigh in on national or world events.” This is true. I have been a student at CMU for … Continue reading Selective Outrage: An Open Letter to CMU President John Marshall
Continue reading ACCESO DE CAMÁRAS DE GJPD CINCO VECES DURANTE EL INCIDENTE DE GONCALVES
Haitz’ Hate: On CHSSA, Curriculum, and Local Control
Haitz says she stands for local control, while taking marching orders from a shadowy cabal of far-right front-range education activists led by Brad Miller, and pushing D51 to adhere to federal edicts, the very opposite of local control. She is mirroring Trump’s playbook of destroying the Department of Education under the guise of returning education to the states while at the same time trying to dictate how schools should operate and what they should and should not teach. Haitz and the cabal of the far-right school board members Colorado are a threat to education and marginalized students across the state. They will continue to use their position and networks to undermine Colorado’s laws and protections for students while eroding our educational standards.
Free Speech for Some
Let me say that again for the civil rights attorneys in the back; John Marshall sent three top administrators to disenfranchise the voices of 20 students all in an effort to make sure a white supremacist spoke at CMU. His protestations and polished emails to the “Mavily” cannot cover this up.
Hey CMU, What is Going On?
Statement by the student group Red Workers' Horizon For weeks, students have known about Jared Taylor's approaching speech on campus. Since then, students have felt disgust, anger, and fear. This upcoming event would be less horrific if it were not fellow students who planned it. However, each member of the so-called "Mavily" knows which students … Continue reading Hey CMU, What is Going On?
Call to Action…
"I walk up and down the steps of Houston Hall, reading CMU’s messages preaching love, dignity, and courage— most strikingly, ‘use power for good.’ This is the same university that grants white supremacists' platforms to spew their hatred. A university is an institution of learning. CMU claims that it wants to model ‘the world we want to create.’ Is this truly the world we want to create? To plaster these words on its walls while allowing white supremacy within them is not just hypocrisy, it is something far worse.”
CMU Special Edition of The Rev and the Rev Makes the News
It has been some busy days at The Rev. The city and campus are shaking with anger at the upcoming white supremacist speaker coming to campus later this month. Our story last week we exposed the rising tide of hate on CMU campus, and it quickly became our most read story in our short history. … Continue reading CMU Special Edition of The Rev and the Rev Makes the News
CMU Fostering a Climate of Hate
“The administration either agrees with TPUSA, Charlie Kirk, and the resegregation of America, or they are asleep at the wheel,” said Ezekiel. “It's about time the CMU administration takes a side. Are they going to protect their students or are they going to roll over?”
January News Briefs
Suchir Balaji was found dead in his apartment in San Francisco at the end of November. Belaji worked for Open AI as a researcher until he quit in August. Just the Tip: A Long Look at GarCO’s SPEAR
“We have recently declared Garfield County and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office as ‘hostile’ governments to Latinos and immigrants,” said Alex Sanchez, President and CEO of Voces Unidas de las Montañas, a Latino advocacy group based in Frisco and Glenwood Springs, in an email. “This was after the BOCC passed a racist anti-sanctuary resolution that blamed Latinos for bringing crime and disease to the county,” said Sanchez
