                 The City of Grand Junction held a series of meetings in April seeking the public’s input into a proposed safe camping facility for the unhoused community. It is not housing, but it is a start.

Student Encampments and Repression

The ongoing genocide and the months long growing protest movement has finally broken the strangle hold the pro-Isreal lobby has had on the media. Students at dozens of Universities have drawn a line in the sand and will not be moved until Gaza is free. They have met with unreasonable amounts of state repression. Local movements are growing see ‘events’ on last page and get involved.

Colorado Bans Excited Delirium

Colorado became the second state in the nation to disallow ‘excited delirium’ to be cited as the cause of death. Excited delirium according to wikipedia: “is a widely rejected diagnosis characterized as a potentially fatal state of extreme agitation and delirium. It has typically been diagnosed postmortem in young adult black males who were physically restrained by law enforcement personnel at the time of death.”

Carbondale Cuts Aid for Venezuelan Refugees

A group of 150 Venezuelan refugees that were found living under a bridge in Carbondale last November, and supported by that community since then, has had its resources drastically cut.

April 27th SCOTUS heard arguments in a case that will have major effects on how cities can criminalize homelessness. Judging by oral arguments, it’s almost certain that the ruling will not be good for people experiencing homelessness.

Glenwood Springs SRO Faces Felonies

GPD officer Sean Tarto was arrested on multiple felony counts. Charges include felony menacing, sexual assault, and the use of a stun gun in commission of a crime. Tarto had been torturing his victim for months, according to the affidavit.
